Mark-Gidley-web T. Mark Gidley,  Chair

For me, it is a privilege and a challenge to be a Director of the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation.  I have spent all my life in Bala and I met both my children for the first time in SMMH.  My parents spent their last days in the same facility.  The hospital is the heart of the community and we depend on it throughout our lifetime.  We want the staff to be the very best and have the finest of equipment at their fingertips.  I feel it is the responsibility of the whole community to support the facility in every way we are able.  I look forward to working with the directors, the staff and the community to achieve the projected goals and keep our standards high.

 Jodie-Evans-WEB Jodie Evans. Vice Chair

I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors for the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation.  I was born and raised in Muskoka and had the pleasure of working for Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare at the South Muskoka location for 23 years as a Respiratory Therapist. During that time I saw the importance of what the Foundation could do to keep our equipment state of the art, therefore attracting staff and physicians. I look forward to carrying on the great work being done by the Foundation.

 David-Smith David Smith, Treasurer

As a resident of Bracebridge for more than 27 years, I am proud to have been able to dedicate most of my professional career to the resort, recreation and tourism based industries of Muskoka.  I am a firm believer that our hospital and associated health care related infrastructure and services are a key cornerstone in the future of our regional economy.  I am honoured to be serving on the South Muskoka Foundation Board and making a contribution to our great community.

Having lived in Muskoka all my life, I have seen many changes in our hospital system. Family members and friends have received excellent treatment by the professional and caring staff. It is an honour to be invited to serve on the Hospital Foundation Board of Directors and I look forward to assisting with the fundraising commitments that are required to maintain the high standards that have been set by past board members.

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare is fortunate to have a partner such as the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation who is essential to our ability to deliver safe, high-quality health care in Muskoka. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a member of the Foundation Board working along side dedicated volunteers who tirelessly commit countless hours raising funds to improve patient care and ensure that MAHC grows with the communities we serve – whether through capital projects, medical equipment or technology.
In today’s evolving and ever-changing health care environment, the interconnection and lines of communication between the hospital and Foundation are crucial to our success. Being a member of the Boards of both of our Hospital Foundations gives me an opportunity to keep the Boards updated on developments within the hospital and to respond to any issues or concerns immediately as they arise. We work together to identify new and effective ways to continue to provide safe and high-quality health care to the people of Muskoka.

It is an honour to be asked to serve the community and the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation Board.

My family and I understand the importance of volunteering to make our community a better place.
Being raised in North Eastern Ontario has provided me with a different perspective of challenges faced by rural communities and access to health care.  Before relocating to Muskoka, my family and I had the opportunity to live on both the east, and west coasts of Canada. This has provided me with different experiences as a patient in multiple provinces and communities.

A financially healthy, fully staffed and equipped hospital is vital a piece of economic and societal infrastructure. I look forward to serving as a member of the Board of Directors and continuing to strive for the standards of excellence put forth by the Foundation.
